Mongo and Vista are the old but good plotting and image manipulation programs developed in the 80's under VMS, ported to Unix, and now Mac OSX, with many enhancements along the way. Files in this directory (sorry, no dmg's): Readme.txt - This file. mongo2k_imac.tar.gz - Mongo source and compiled binaries for Intel Mac (Mac OSX 10.4) vista_imac.tar.gz - Vista source and compiled binary for Intel Mac (Mac OSX 10.4) mongo2k_lin64bit.tar.gz - Mongo source and compiled binaries for some recent linux version (Mandriva, and it's not actually 64bit) mongo2k_mac.tar.gz - Mongo source and compiled binaries for PPC Mac (G4, Mac OSX 10.3.9). vista_mac.tar.gz - Vista+Mongo for PPC Mac (G4, Mac OSX 10.3.9). These are basically the mongo2k and Vista distribution directories from various machines I've had (in various ways), assembled here at the behest of Dr Tonry himself. Note that the readline distribution that has been distributed with Mongo2k for many years won't work under any Mac OSX installations. The binaries in the above distributions have all been compiled with static system readline versions. So, just copy the mongo-related binaries and mongopar file to the appropriate places. But you *will* need have the g2c dynamic library (libg2c.0.dylib). The easiest way to do this is to download "the final release of g77" from the sourceforge high performance computing for Mac OSX site: http://hpc.sourceforge.net/ Just untar the appropriate g77*bin.tar into your /usr/local/ directory (which doesn't exist by default on recent Mac's). This also requires the Apple XCode tools, which you can get from the Mac OSX installation disk or from connect.apple.com. For documentation on this version of Mongo, see the 'WHATS_NEW' file and/or the online manual at: http://www.lowell.edu/users/koehn/mongodoc.html For Vista documentation (such as it is), see the README and Howto.Vista files in the doc directory. If you actually download any of these and they work for you, I'd be happy to hear of it, and if they don't, I can probably provide some help. (Best to track me down through my HIA/NRC email address.) Good luck! JPB
